This March, you have all the reasons of the world to spend some time in Portugal, particularly in Lisbon, which is the very place where all the excitement is at home.
The month of February at the Sao Carlos Theatre ends with a stunning interpretation of Macbeth opera put to music by the famous Verdi. Representations began on February 21st and are due to end on March 1st 2015.

The same Sao Carlos Theatre continues delighting the public in March and April with representations of the opera La Cenerentola by Rossini.

Lisbon continues to rejoice with music throughout the month of March. Concerts are scheduled: Scorpions (March 10th), Boyce Avenue (March 14th), Beyonce (March 26th and 27th), Ivete Sangalo (March 13th).

The BTL International Tourism Exhibition is also scheduled between February 25th and March 1st. This annual event is perhaps the most important rendez-vous opportunity for professionals in the tourism domain and the public. There are around 1000 exhibitors and some 7000 people attend the fair each year.

The Alimentaria Expo Show, to be hosted at the Parco das Nacoes from March 27th to 30th, is another similar event, welcoming professionals from the food industry, but also people representing logistics, restaurants and hotels.

The Lisbon Half Marathon, between Almada and Belem, is scheduled for March 22nd. And last but certainly not least, let’s remember that the end of March (29th of March – 4th of April) marks the Holy Week before Easter.

As for the little ones, they will be delighted to explore the Choco Kidslandia, while their parents can also stuff themselves with sweets in the Cocoa Lounge.

It is more or less common knowledge that chocolate is extracted from the cacao tree seeds, but the process of fermentation to render it the unmistakable flavor is much more complex. After they have been fermented, the beans are dried, cleaned and afterwards put to roast. After removing the shell, the result is the rough chocolate coming in cacao nibs. Liquefied before being cast into a specific form, this is the co-called chocolate liquor.
